A remnant of Missouri's original route numbering system, the Centennial Road System, is on this Newton County road along US 60 just east of Granby in southwest Missouri. US 60's original Centennial route designation was State Highway No. 16. Missouri 16 is now assigned to a route at the opposite corner of the state near Canton.
A similar remnant for State Highway No. 7, later US 63, is in Boone County north of Columbia.
