This is the inset map for Clinton from the 1959 official state highway map. Numbered routes shown on this map were Missouri 13 and Missouri 52 (in red); Missouri 18 (in dark blue); and Missouri 7 (in red northwest of Missouri 13 and dark blue east of Missouri 13). There was a triple concurrence of Missouri 7, 13, and 52 in much of Clinton.

Between 1958 and 1959, Missouri 7 replaced Missouri 35 in Clinton. The renumbering was done to avoid duplicating the route number for Interstate 35. This was one of several Missouri route redesignations that were implemented to avoid duplicating numbers for the newly established Interstate highway system.
