This sign on US 59 and US 271 at Bypass US 59 near Poteau, Oklahoma contradicts the sign assembly just a little beyond the sign. The larger sign indicates that US 59 and US 271 follow the route of a bypass around Poteau. The sign assembly instead indicates that US 59 and US 271 continue on their longtime route through Poteau, signing the new bypass as Bypass US 59.
Also note the prominent black outlines surrounding the US route markers.
